TRAVELLING IN 2022
The past two years have been a very uncertain time in the travel and tourism industry. With many cancellations, extensions, and changes, the industry has suffered immensely. However, we are looking forward to 2022, and are positive that things are going to change for the better.
There’s been a lot of discussion with regards to what will happen in 2022. In 2022, there will be a shift in vacationing as with the past two years BUT with the outcome of the 4th wave, it seems that things are starting to ease a little. With the slight recent increase in bookings, it seems that people are a little more confident with future travel plans. And why wouldn’t they be? South Africa and the Garden Route has soooo much to offer. Tourism is a major industry worldwide and it’s only right that things stabilise sooner or later.
Travelling in 2022 might become a little more difficult with travel passports, or Covid Testing, but many countries are also scrapping the isolation when coming or going, which has been a huge concern not only for people wanting to take a break with limited time but also the costs involved in this exercise. On a positive note, there has been a vast improvement with companies and establishments, that provide the ability to change or cancel their reservations and flights.
There has also been some positivity within the travel industry, despite being a very difficult time, as we at Forest Edge have always considered our locals where pricing is concerned and we’re very blessed to have them choose the Garden Route, and our establishment to travel to instead of going abroad. Many people used this time to explore our Country as a whole and appreciate the beauty our country has to offer. This is a huge bonus to our local economy and gives the local business owners a chance to show off their products and services and for people to discover some hidden gems.
We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to everyone in our industry whose establishments, restaurants or businesses did not survive this pandemic. Years of hard work that just tumbled due to no fault of your own. We hope you find some peace, and wherever this road may take you, and may it be a fresh new beginning that flourishes.
