Why is Forest Edge beneficial to your stay in the Garden Route?
Forest Edge Nature Lover’s retreat is situated in the picturesque area of Rheenendal, between Knysna and Sedgefield. This is perfect especially if you are planning to explore these areas, right up to George or even Mosselbay, Knysna, or beyond, while enjoying the Knysna Forest.
Rheenendal is rich with history and gives you a true sense of what it was like to live here all those years ago, as the Woodcutters did in Rheenendal.
The roads are still mainly sand roads, with rich local vegetation and green farmlands. There are many historical sites to be visited in the area, like the Wood Cutter Trail where you can read about the woodcutters, and the history and enjoy a hike or walk.
You can go and explore the beaches, surrounding towns, and area, do some shopping enjoy all the scenic routes, and return to the peace of the forest, or you can start your day with a hike in the Forest and then go explore either way you can have the best of both worlds.
Our gate is only a few meters from the Drupkelders hiking trail, a very special trail that is preserved by Cape Nature and only allows 12 people per day.
There are loads of Mountain Biking trails and hiking trails all within a radius of 5km from our establishment, as mentioned in the previous blog.
If you are looking for a breakaway in nature where you can unwind and forget the world or would like the best of both worlds Forest Edge Nature Lover’s Retreat is centrally based right in the heart of the Garden Route and beneficial when planning a visit to the area.
See you soon, we look forward to welcoming you
