Visiting Knysna is a must for anyone living or visiting South Africa, with its lush beauty and unique charm. Knysna is a natural indigenous paradise offering breathtaking and endless opportunities for both adventure and leisure.
It has so much to offer from lush forests, picturesque beaches, beautiful mountains, and breathtaking tranquil rivers. Home to both the last remaining Knysna Elephant, Knysna Loerie, Pansy Shell, the Knysna seahorse and 8000 different plant species.
Our Knysna forest is the largest closed-canopy forest in southern Africa. Nothing like a quiet walk down one of the many demarcated trails deep into the forest, to experience nothing but the sounds of Cicada, birds and the leaves from the trees as the breeze ruffles them. The air is so clean and you smell the dampness as it emerges from the ground, with an occasional branch breaking and letting the imagination flow, trying to establish what may have caused it, hoping it’s the Elephants presence you hear.
Everyone seeks peace to relief from the hustle and bustle of the fast-paced city life. Whether your idea of relaxing is looking for mindfulness, thrill-seeking or adventure Knysna offers it all. By Visiting Knysna you can get all this and more. Forest Edge offers Knsyna Forest Accommodation, right in the heart of the forest. Rheenendal is only 22.6km from our establishment and gives you a break from the hustle and bustle of city life. With only a wire fence between our establishment and the dense lush tree canopies, it is truly a special place. There are 850 species of birds recorded in Southern Africa of which 50 of them are only found in Southern Africa and nowhere else. We have regular visits, from our feathered friends, including the Knysna Loerie, and the Knysna Woodpecker as they frequent the trees and ponds on the premises. Our Nightlife is also a spectacular and special experience all by its self, with the sounds of Nightjars echoing, fireflies lighting fluttering and rustling of the trees.
We look forward to welcoming you when you come and visit Knysna and sharing with you the special place we call home.
Forest Greetings…..
