What is there to do after dark in Knysna?
For some people exploring the Garden Route and Knysna during the day was not enough and are looking to continue exploring after dark.
If you are a nature lover, you can enjoy the fireflies, stars, the sound of the Knysna forest, and explore our establishment for nightlife like nightjars (birds) and frogs with the kids, right from your comfort of your wooden cabin. Each cabin has its own braai area so you can enjoy the sunset and the nightlife over a glass of wine and eat your braai meat under the stars.

If you wish to enjoy a picnic under the stars, the arrangement can be made for a picnic basket with our managing couple Susan and Dries at Forest Edge Nature Lover’s Retreat.
For those who enjoy fishing, you can obtain a fishing permit and go catch fish off the pier on Thesen Island or go out to sea with one of the fishing tour companies, more about fishing along our coastline and places to get your permit in our previous blog.

For those who enjoy the city life and dining out, you can head off to Knysna and visit one of many restaurants in the area. Our favourites of course are 34 Degrees South, for a more casual setting with something for everyone, or Sirocco for fine dining. But there are so many to explore. Tapas and Oysters is a stunning setting for some great cocktails, local cuisine, sushi, vegetarian, and vegan friendly too.

Enjoy the drive back from town meandering through the forest roads back to our establishment, but please be careful as it can be very dark at times, and please drive slowly as there are many birds and wildlife that come alive at night making use of our roads to cross or look for food.
We look forward to your next visit
Forest Greetings
