The Simola Hill Climb Speed Festival, Knysna will take place, as usual, this year 4 – 7th of May 2023. This has become one of South Africa’s best-loved Premier Motorsport Lifestyle events. This years event it so be the biggest one yet.
The Event is supported by many top Automotive Brands like Suzuki, BMW, Ford as well as Magazines like Autotraider.

This year will be their 13th addition. Despite the pandemic, the event still took place in September 2021 minus its faithful fans cheering them on, it was however watched in the comfort of people’s homes with the SABC TV broadcast. The event has delivered Kart Grand Prix, Motor Shows, Soap Box Derbies, 4 x 4 Forest Drives, the Golf Day, and the Simola Hill Climb.
The event started in 2009 and was sponsored by Jaguar and has grown to be one of the most liked motorsport events in Knysna, South Africa. The event has had some of the finest in Motocross taking part like Michel Bayle and Randy Pobst.
But is not all about racing. Car enthusiasts flock to see some of the finest racing cars around. Porsche 917, Lamborgini Gallardo, Nissan GTRS, Ariel Atoms, and many more.
The Simola Hill Climb Speed Festival event that is held over 3 days offers collectors and lovers of Vintage Cars the chance to come and see pre-1990 vehicles making this one of the favourite Motor Vehicle events for the whole family to enjoy. People flock from all over come to spend time in the company of these fine Vintage vehicles.
The Saturday and the Sunday deliver fast and exciting racing as the vehicles hit speeds of up to 260km/h on the 1.9km tarmac stretch in just over 35 seconds. This is enough to get anyone’s adrenalin pumping.
Their Golf day is a charity event and the proceeds go to various nominated charities and are organised by the same team at Simola.
If you haven’t attended one of these over the years, this event is enough to get the adrenaline going.
