The Health Benefits of including the Sea in your next Holiday Break

In a previous blog, we explained the Health Benefits of the Forest and nature as a whole, with Forest Edge Nature Lover’s Retreat nestled right in the middle of Knysna Forest, so we thought we would share some Health Benefits of the Sea as we are surrounded by the most stunning beaches.
Here are a few of our favourite Health Benefits of including the Sea in your next Holiday Break:
If you are feeling tired and less energized that is fully understandable after all the events of the past few years, the Sea air has negative ions, that have been healthily charged, which help humans absorb more oxygen.
Swimming in salty sea waters has a fantastic effect and helps the treatment of skin conditions, as well as helps, reduce hay fever, sinus and other respiratory symptoms.
Listening and watching seawater moving in and out has a very calming effect, and helps reduce stress and anxiety.
Swimming in the sea for at least 15min can strengthen your immune system as it increases the number of red blood cells in the system.
It can help heal muscle, arthritis and other pain that can be caused by most post-operational procedures as it has anti-inflammatory properties.

Walking along the beach barefooted in the water has a grounding and relaxing effect on the mind and the body.
If you are looking for a great way to recharge the mind and the body the Garden Route is just the place for you. Forest Edge Forest Cottages are the perfect base to apply all the mindfulness your body and mind might need. We are situated between Sedgefield and Knysna right on the edge of the Knysna forest. Forest Edge, has its own Laybrynth and meditation corner and the hiking trails deep into the forest leading to some beautiful rock pools start right outside our gate and the beach is only a 20m drive away meandering through the farms making it a picturesque drive too.

Forest Greetings
